Red River Bridge at Jimmie Davis Highway

The idea of replacing the two-lane “Jimmie Davis Bridge” connecting the growing Northern Louisiana municipalities of Shreveport and Bossier City has been a long time coming for a route that sees up to 52,000 cars a day. Throw in the possibility of bike and pedestrian lanes that would turn nature trails on each side of the river into a network, and a lot of citizens, not just drivers, are excited.

Proof of this enthusiasm was evident at the public scoping meeting, coordinated by THA in accordance with National Environmental Policy Act guidelines and attended by hundreds of citizens. As the study process continues, THA is maintaining a stakeholder database, providing media relations, operating a telephone information line, and coordinating public hearing logistics.
